Always at Work against Assembly Problems.

Loctite® Retaining Compounds vs. press, shrink or slip fits.

Loctite® works as your partner to make even the trickiest assemblies more reliable, such as cylindrical parts.

Cylindrical assemblies

The Enemy: Cylindrical assembly inconsistencies. You can't eliminate press, shrink or slip fits, and the interference that accompanies them.

The Enemy: Fretting corrosion. Shock and vibration cause this problem, which can lead to fatigue cracking.

Fretting corrosion
Loctite Fills All Voids

The Enemy: Key wallow and backlash. If you use keys and splines for torsional driving without longitudinal sliding, backlash is a common outcome. Shock and vibration can also cause keyway wallowing and fatigue failure.

The Problem: Equipment failures, warranty costs, repair costs, downtime.

The Solution: Loctite® Retaining Compound. They improve the strength of your assembly, allowing looser tolerances, producing less distortion and making assembly easier. You extend product life, reduce downtime and repair and warranty costs.

Loctite Retaining Compound

Loctite® Retaining Products Benefits:

Strengthen keyed assemblies. Loctite® Retaining Compounds strengthen keyed assemblies and prevent wallowing. The adhesive prevents movement between components, preventing fatigue failures.

Eliminate fretting corrosion by sealing the joint completely. By filling the inner space with Loctite® Retaining Compound, you achieve a hardened seal that prevents fretting corrosion 100%.

Eliminate the need for a press fit. You no longer need close control of interference between pins and collars. You reduce or eliminate concerns about concentricity, roundness or parallelism.

If you need to use a press fit (steel-to-steel, for example), Loctite® Retaining Compound allows you to double the strength. You will need less force, reducing the chance of bent pins and lowering hub stresses.

Loctite reducing distortion and galling

If you need to use a slip fit, you can bond it with greater ease, reducing distortion and galling. You end press-fit stress during assembly, improving the life of the part and reducing failures. For steel-to-steel slip fits, you can exceed heavy press fit strengths.

If you need to use a slip fit on dissimilar metals (steel-to-aluminum, for example), you can equal press-fit strengths.
